IACBE President Meets with Afghanistan Ministry of Higher Education

Lenexa, Kansas, USA (July 2012) – At IACBE University in April 2012, Dennis Gash, President of the IACBE met with Mr. Masoud Tarshtwal, Director of Private Institutions for the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in Afghanistan, and Mr. Sayed Khalid, Director of Finance for the Kardan Institute of Higher Education in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The high-level discussions focused on an alliance between the IACBE and the MOHE in which the IACBE would play a significant role in the process of transforming the country of Afghanistan from a culture of conflict to one of peace and prosperity for its citizenry. In this transformative process, the IACBE would contribute to economic reconstruction, the development of the higher education system, and the rebuilding of a sustainable and stable society by working with higher education institutions in Afghanistan to foster excellence in business education through student-focused and outcomes-based quality assurance. By partnering with institutions of higher education in Afghanistan, the IACBE will help to build a bridge to understanding and reconciliation within the country, thereby creating the potential for long-term peace and stability.
In addition, the alliance involves the designation of the IACBE by the Ministry of Higher Education as the official, governmentally-recognized accrediting body for business programs and business schools in Afghanistan.
The IACBE-MOHE alliance recognizes the importance and potential of knowledge and education in creating hope for a better future in Afghanistan, and represents a significant step in rebuilding the higher education system in the country. The IACBE is honored and privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the process of creating a lasting peace in Afghanistan.
