IACBE President to Meet with Ministry of Higher Education and Conduct International Accreditation Forum in Afghanistan
Lenexa, Kansas, USA (August 2013) – On September 9-12, 2013, Mr. Dennis Gash, President of the IACBE, will travel to Kabul, Afghanistan to meet with officials from the Afghan Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and to conduct an international accreditation forum for higher education institutions in the country.
The high-level discussions will focus on the ways in which the IACBE could contribute to economic reconstruction, the development of the higher education system, and the rebuilding of a sustainable and stable society in Afghanistan. In this transformative process, the IACBE will work with Afghan higher education institutions to foster excellence in business education through student-focused and outcomes-based quality assurance. By partnering with institutions of higher education in Afghanistan, the IACBE will help to build a bridge to understanding and reconciliation within the country, thereby creating the potential for long-term peace and stability.
In partnership with the ministry, Mr. Gash will also conduct an international accreditation forum for Afghan higher education institutions that will focus on the IACBE's outcomes-based approach to quality assurance and accreditation, the methods used to measure student learning and institutional effectiveness, and other essential processes for advancing academic quality in business schools and programs.
The IACBE-MOHE discussions recognize the importance and potential of higher education in creating hope for a better future in Afghanistan, and represents a significant step in rebuilding the higher education system in the country. The IACBE is honored and privileged to have the opportunity to contribute to the process of creating a lasting peace in Afghanistan.
In addition, Mr. Gash will accompany a team that will conduct candidacy visits to Kardan University and the Dunya Institute of Higher Education, both of which are located in Kabul.
