A significant aspect of the IACBE’s developmental and collaborative approach to accreditation is its mentoring services.

ServicesThe IACBE is committed to a developmental approach to accreditation and excellence in business education. The organization promotes continuous improvement by working in a collaborative and cooperative manner with its members in their efforts toward achieving higher levels of quality in business education. In keeping with this developmental and collaborative approach to accreditation, the IACBE has established a mentoring program to assist its members in their pursuit of excellence in business education.

Mentoring services are available to all members of the IACBE throughout the entire accreditation process, and are specially customized and tailored to address the particular issues with which the institution desires assistance. IACBE mentors are available to provide mentoring services in the following areas relating to accreditation:

  • The Accreditation Process
  • Outcomes Assessment
  • Preparing an Outcomes Assessment Plan
  • Preparing a Self-Study
  • Preparing for a Site Visit
  • The IACBE’s Accreditation Principles
  • Strategic Planning
  • Integrating Outcomes Assessment, Strategic Planning, and Budgeting Processes for Continuous Improvement
  • Other Areas Upon Request

Mentoring Process

Mentoring services are provided through one of the following types of visits: (1) The IACBE can arrange a mentoring visit to your institution or (2) a representative or representatives from your insitution can visit IACBE headquarters for mentoring.

Institutional Mentoring Visits

Upon receipt of a request for a mentoring visit, an IACBE mentor will confer with the academic business unit to arrange the details and itinerary of the visit. If available, the academic business unit should send relevant materials to the mentor for review prior to the visit (e.g., drafts of self-study, outcomes assessment plan, strategic plan, etc.). The mentoring visit can involve meetings and consultations with individuals, workshops for groups, or both. After the visit has taken place, the mentor will be available for follow-up questions and/or review of documents.

Visits to IACBE Headquarters

The academic business unit can send a representative or representaitves to IACBE headquarters for mentoring services. The academic business unit should contact IACBE headquarters to arrange the details of the visit, and if available, send relevant materials to the IACBE for review prior to the visit (e.g., drafts of self-study, outcomes assessment plan, strategic plan, etc.). After the visit has taken place, the mentor will be available for follow-up questions and/or review of documents.

Costs

The costs of institutional mentoring visits include travel expenses, hotel accommodations, meals, and transportation for the mentor plus a daily mentoring fee. Mentoring visits typically take only one day. In the case of visits to IACBE headquarters, a daily mentoring fee will be charged. The institution will be responsible for all travel-related expenses of its representative(s). Specific information about mentoring costs can be found by following the link below:
