During the conference, there were a total of 39 sessions dealing with various aspects of business education without borders – another record number of presentations.
At Thursday’s keynote luncheon, Dr. Mark Skousen, Editor-in-Chief of Forecasts
and Strategies, delivered an excellent conference keynote address entitled "The Globalization of Business and Business Education." Dr. Skousen is a nationally-known investment expert, economist, university professor, and author of more than 35 books and scholarly articles. He has taught economics and finance at Columbia Business School, Barnard College at Columbia University, Mercy College, and Rollins College. Business Leader of the Year Award.
At Thursday evening’s Accreditation and Awards Banquet – the highlight of each annual conference – the IACBE presented its annual awards of excellence and recognized a total of 9 schools from 4 countries that have recently achieved either first-time accreditation or reaffirmation of accreditation.
This year’s conference also featured the second annual student case-study competition focusing on business ethics. The competition was open to students from all IACBE-member schools, and provided students with an opportunity to showcase their ability to analyze a case, and to identify and discuss recommendations for action in an ethical and thoughtful manner.
At the General Meeting of the Assembly on Thursday morning, the IACBE elected new members to its Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners.
Friday’s all-day accreditation workshops were very well-attended, and focused on various dimensions of the IACBE’s quality assurance process.
