Accountability in Business and Business Education
This year’s Annual Conference and Assembly Meeting featured an outstanding lineup of concurrent sessions, speakers, and other activities
Photos from the 2012 Annual Conference and Assembly Meeting have been posted and are now available for viewing:
During the conference, there were a total of 34 concurrent sessions dealing with various aspects of accountability and social responsibility in business and business education – a record number of presentations.
This year’s conference also featured the first annual student case-study competition focusing on business ethics. The competition was open to students from all IACBE-member schools, and provided students with an opportunity to showcase their ability to analyze a case, and to identify and discuss recommendations for action in an ethical and thoughtful manner.
At Thursday’s plenary luncheon, Dr. Judith Eaton, President of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), delivered an excellent conference keynote address entitled “The Increasing Demand for Public Accountability in Higher Education and its Implications for Accreditation.”
At Thursday evening’s Accreditation and Awards Banquet – the highlight of each annual conference – the IACBE presented its annual awards of excellence and recognized a total of 18 schools from 6 countries that achieved either first-time accreditation or reaffirmation of accreditation.
Friday’s all-day accreditation workshops were very well-attended, and focused on various dimensions of the IACBE's quality assurance process.
We are very pleased to announce that this year’s conference also saw the launch of a new scholarly journal sponsored by the IACBE and Bellevue University (NE) entitled the “Journal for Excellence in Business Education (JEBE).”
In partnership with Keuka College (NY), the IACBE also introduced at this year’s conference a significant new international initiative – the International Business Education Consortium (IBEC). The IBEC is a gateway for IACBE-member schools, both domestic and abroad, to building a global campus network, and was formally launched at this year’s IACBE University.
